A Fun Way to Fight the Flu

happiness health

Tis the season for contagious common illness like the cold and the flu. Today I'd like to offer you a well-researched preventative for illness and disease that you can start utilizing right away to boost your immune system.

Temperatures are dropping (I mean, I assume they are. I live in Austin, TX so it's still sandal weather here), people are staying indoors more and librarians are hard at work shushing all the sniffles, sneezes and coughs. And let's be honest, getting sick sucks! It shuts down our ability to enjoy our loved ones, to work effectively, to sleep well and to have fun.

So what can you do to stay healthy and avoid getting sick?

It's actually quite simple, and it's even fun! You can laugh. I personally recommend it in large and regular doses.

Laughter reduces immunosuppressant stress hormones and increases beneficial hormones like endorphins and neurotransmitters. On top of that, laughter has been shown to stimulate antibody cells to generate quicker. T-Cells become more efficient which helps the body ward off illness and infection. What a beautiful system the human body is!

So if you want to stay healthy this flu season, make time for your favorite comedies, call up your funniest friends, read those comic strips you always loved and find the humor in everyday life. Your immune system will thank you for it!

What is your go-to when you need a laugh?
