Time Travel is Real

happiness mindfulness tools Oct 22, 2019

How much time do you spend reflecting on your past?

If you're like most people, reflections tend to fall on all of the times you misspoke, misstepped, misunderstood or simply missed out. Our present can be plagued by I should have done _____________ differently from the past, which has a grave effect on your future (not to mention ruining the present moment).

Does your mind wander into the future?

For many, this brings worry about the unknown. Stress over that which...

How to Have More Fun More Often!

mindfulness self-love tools Oct 17, 2019

Fun is not universal.

That may be common knowledge, but it is something I learned not long ago. After I got sober, fun was one of the many parts of my life I had to reexamine. It was one of the most surprising parts of my life I had to reexamine.

It never occurred to me that fun is a conscious choice just like every other area we talk about in here. There are no objective fun activities.

I think reading about spiritual growth and self-development is super fun,...

Is this Shortcut Limiting Your Life?

Upon initial introductions people often want a list of credentials to gauge your value. I totally get it. It is a really easy way to determine if someone has been given the stamp of approval externally instead of trying to figure that out internally.

I see two issues with this, however.

1.) It places a person's value on a piece of paper. No paper = No value. I think we all know how silly that really is. Lots of people who don't show up positively in the world have all sorts of...

Taking on a New Challenge & Facing the Truth

It is October 1, 2019. This marks Day 1 of the Ultimate Blog Challenge - a one month initiative to write every day. I've never participated in anything like this. I'm more excited than anything. I love to write, yet I don't always have the discipline to sit down and do it daily.

This challenge is not just a way for me to write some new words but to eat the ones I'm always putting out there to y'all.

One of the strongest beliefs I hold is that we cannot thrive alone. Yes, we...

The Gift Economy vs Traditional Business Model

I realize not everyone has the desire for details, so I'll give the short version up front, and anyone who wants to know the full story can keep reading. Deal?

The traditional business model in the healing/coaching industry is not one of service but of sales and marketing. Plain and simple.

How do I know?

Cuz I took courses on it, built my business in it with the help of a top coach and ran my business under it up until September 2019. Yes, I, too, did each and every one of the...

Mini Meditation Post

mindfulness tools Jul 03, 2019

There is a myth going around about meditation and it super sucks because it blocks a lot of people from the most powerful tool in the toolkit -awareness. Any transformation journey, whether it's recovering from addiction or anything else, requires awareness as a foundation for any kind of major change.

Meditation is the practice of expanding awareness and learning to control the mind. A lot of people give up on meditation because they are frustrated. They sit there and they try to have a...

Three Tips for Thriving in Your Energy's Winter

mindfulness self love tools Jun 10, 2019

Do you ever have days when you just can't seem to focus? Times when your 100% isn't as powerful as you feel you need it to be? Periods of your life when you have so much you need to do, but you don't have the energy to begin let alone complete all of it?

Yeah, me too. In fact, I'm in one of those right now. I've gone through this often during and before recovery. In truth, I think everyone goes through something like this whether they are recovery from addiction, living with mental illness or...

How Much Does Your Past Weigh?

Back in 2016 I was traveling a lot for work. I remember one month when I took something like 2 dozen flights. It was nuts and fun and tiring. Either way, I had a lot of time to sit and to think on those planes. I recall one such trip when I was sitting near the back of the plane on the aisle seat. I felt so much stress and fear and anxiety in me that had built up over the years.

It had increased since coming into recovery because I was becoming more and more aware of reality and was...

Could you use more time every day?

Have you ever said any of these phrases to yourself or others?

"I would exercise more if I had the time."

"I don't have time for hobbies/vacation/fun."

"If I had the time I would work on my book/passion/invention/etc."

If you have, you are not alone. "I don't have enough time" is one of the first defenses people use for why they aren't taking the action they keep talking about.

The truth is, we all have the same amount. People who earn millions haven't figured out how to buy more of it....

How Do I Develop Self Love?

This is one of the top questions I receive from people and for good reason. We live in a culture that teaches us that we're not good enough as we are. We come from generations that were taught to "power through", "toughen up", and "not air dirty laundry". We received the message that having and expressing emotions was impolite and weak.

Basically we are living under the suffocating pressure of lies.

::A quick note: This is universally changing. Just you seeking to develop...
